New Clive School Playground Opens to Students
Students at Clive School are now enjoying a brand-new playground, the result of a community-wide effort that spanned two years. The project began in 2022 when the school council identified the need to replace the aging playground. Facing a fundraising goal of approximately $300,000, the council applied for grants and reached out to local businesses and organizations for support.
Over the next two years, various fundraising events were organized, with students actively participating not only in raising money but also in designing the playground. Their ideas were incorporated into the final design, making the playground a true reflection of the students' creativity and needs.
Construction kicked off once the necessary funds were secured.
"Volunteers from the community all pitched in to help prepare the site, and then we had some companies and organizations lend a hand as well," said Abbey Cruikshank, the school's principal, adding the students were very excited to see it finished.
"The enthusiasm is truly amazing. I've heard several students exclaim how fun it is. One of them even told me, 'I'm going to play here, and maybe someday my kids will play here too.' It's heartwarming to see their joy and pride in what we've accomplished together."
The playground officially opened on December 2,to the students and the Clive School community.
